Defeated?

The echoes have stopped sounding
The music has lost its melody.
The rain flows down the eyes of those who cannot see.

The epitome of denial
Has stepped out from the gloom.
The sifting, tuneless song flows,
down the stream of reality.

Has no-one seen?
No ray of hope
To beckon us away
From the drifting river of sadness?

The man with all the woes
Has crumbled under the weight.
There's nothing left to carry him
The beam of love is dead.

Will no-one see the conditions
Of unrequited love?
The barrel with all the answers has sunk deep, I dread.

Has no-one heard?
No guiding tune
To engulf our ears
In the sweet escape of dreams?

Then, I fear, all has been lost.
There is no-one to save us
Unless the Faith returns.
Unless we call it back.

Has no-one seen?
No ray of hope
To beckon us away
From the drifting river of sadness?

No Hope

If I could hold you forever.
If I could be there forever.
If you could be here forever.

I etch words onto a scarlet slab.
I etch your name onto my heart.

On an endless journey on a driverless train,
The windows are stuck.

The bridges are burning.
There's a dead end.

And I see your face.

I'm sorry I love you.

But you're gold.

And the wind blows through the lonely roads.
And it speaks your name.

I wish I could fly.

I wish I could say what my heart was telling me to.

If I could hold you forever.
If I could be there forever.
If you could be here forever.

If you could love me.

But that's a world away.
And my spaceship's broken down.

Maybe

Charcoal and black hearts.

I left my love,
Wandering in the moonlight.
The beams illuminating the fragments of disaster.

A new prisoner,
I'm put behind the bars
Of love because I couldn't find a place to be.

Maybe the hole will seal.
Maybe hope will carry me through.
Maybe there are new words.
Maybe one day.

Slowly the heart pumps,
Slowly the soul cries,
Maybe one day you'll heal me.

The symphony
Beckons me, calling me
To find a new arrangement.

The tranquility,
The darkness in nothingness
Says there's a light.

But it's never near.

Maybe the hole will seal.
Maybe hope will carry me through.
Maybe there are new words.
Maybe one day.

Slowly the heart pumps,
Slowly the soul cries,
Maybe one day you'll heal me.

Maybe one day you'll carry me through.

There's madness. And there's sadness.

But can we heal the heart that's broken?

Mystic?

A new sun trod on the sky blue canopy,
A heart in the shape of a world.
And like a dawn of new found hope,
A boy in his little bed turned.

A fairy took flight from her nightly home,
And danced her joy in the sky.
Another day had come from the Unseen Land,
Though no-one truly knew why.

She smiled and laughed,
And danced and pranced,
But was invisible to you and me.
But then she ceased,
The dancing stopped,
For a mishap had happened to chance.

The clouds spoke in hurried whispers,
The seas were rushing to grey.
The winds were blowing their whistles,
The trees they began to sway.

And the music of sadness, it drifted,
And settled in the fairy's ears.
She wept and wept, she cried and cried,
But nothing would stop the tears.

The sun looked down, and gave way,
To the moon who patiently waited.
The beams from her smile dried her tears,
Of the fairy in the fluorescent light.

Sleepiness drew her blanket,
The fairy tucked herself in.
And the blades of grass, they swayed in the night,
Dancing to the tune of the wind.

A sun new trod on the sky blue canopy,
A heart in the shape of the world.
And like the dawn of new found hope,
A boy in his little bed turned.

He awoke and rubbed his eyes once shut,
Oblivious to human fears.
He got off his bed, and on he tread,
On the path of his home so dear.

He looked out the window, called upon his mother,
And asked, straining his ears.
"How come the mist?", the mother replied,
"From a fairy who shed her tears."

Rhys and I wrote this poem in grade 8.

Seconds away from my blind existence,
I have a Faith that keeps my alive.
This power is mine for the taking,
Yet I must continue to strive.

My short-circuited nerves have left me on my own,
But I'm balancing well on the edge for now.
Forsaken, my soul is slipping away,
I know I must get it back, but how?

My soul is my whole,
My soul is my role,
And letting it go is sad.
Yet immortality does beckon,
And bravely I reckon,
That this isn't half so bad.

Stuck between Nadir and Zenith,
Stuck between love and hate.
My mind is fraught with earthly demons,
To live forever is my only fate.

Detiny controls us, but why?
Why are we slaves to our hate?
Don't we control our own actions?
We live or die is decided by Fate.

Forgive me if I die on my own,
I would like to take you with me.
You know I will get you after all,
There is naught you can do to flee.

External dismission and internal conviction,
Has left me all by my own.
The world has destroyed me, I've lost my integrity.
And must venture into the unknown.

Corrupted and twisted,
Surrounded and misted,
These bonds I cannot break.
Alone I must stand,
In this forbidden land,
There's not much more I can take.

The noise of the crackling, smouldering amber,
Does nothing to calm my soul.
Havoc building inside me, from Grace I did fall,
Never again will I be whole.

Washed?

The fire burned in the foyer,
Beside the trembling soul.
The char sifted through the ocean,
And lighted the room, but not her heart.
The dinner grew cold,
Like cheeks once rosy, now pale.
The wind blew through the window.

A chill was sent down the flame,
And let loose the fire tame.
And all was burnt except the soul,
Beside the cooling mound of coal.
So she walks beside the dust,
Like all her shattered, misled trust.
Afar from pain, she lies to rest.
Somewhere in the seared, singed mess.

One wall stood among the ruins.
The wind still blowing through the open window.

Nothing else remained.

For nothing else mattered.

Panic?

There's a maniac in the box,
Creeping out in the silent dusk.
Slithering, withering, near a trunk.
Underneath the silent crockery of celestial dinners.

Oh and all you see is not the same.

Upon your podium, you are blind.
Under the carpet on your floor.
There are things, there are things you don't like.
Harp all you like, your ideas are vague.

Oh and all you see is not the same.

You're welcome here.
Thank you.
Goodnight.
